Our Story
In 2019, Vanessa Davis, the CEO/Founder, felt a spiritual calling to connect with a local school and inquire about students facing unmet basic needs. Identifying these needs, Vanessa mobilized her friends and family, marking the inception of our philanthropic journey. In February 2023, Josie’s Closet officially became a 501(c)(3) charity.
Our Board comprises passionate women deeply invested in the well-being of our community and the future of its children. Despite our own children having moved beyond the public school system, our commitment to ensuring every student's opportunity to succeed remains unwavering. Focused on addressing clothing insecurity in Title 1 schools, we aim to fulfill a crucial need and positively impact the lives of students who might otherwise be overlooked.
Our dedication underscores our belief in the transformative power of education and our commitment to social justice. By advocating for students facing unmet clothing needs, we strive to level the playing field and contribute to a more equitable society. Through persistent effort and determination, we are leaving a lasting, positive imprint on the lives of children and families in need, with effects reverberating for years to come.
